Jennifer Shields of Posh Tot Events joined us on Better Mornings Atlanta to give us some fun and simple ways to entertain your kids.
Think of it as sort of a “summer camp at home”.
Jennifer set up three different stations… one with arts & crafts another for water play and a third for dramatic play.
The kids can paint on an IKEA easel they’re cheap and do the trick.
Another entertaining idea is to creat sock puppets then later the kids can use a “dramatic play” station that the parents create. And of course dress up is always a good way for kids to spend part of the day.
Jennifer also showed me a water play station… which included a kiddie pool and toys from the dollar store. Sort-of a “make your own water park” idea.
Jennifer also passed along some great ideas to keep in mind when you’re creating your summer camp at home…
-Avoid hours in front of the TV and complaints of “I’m BORED” by mixing it up. Plan a Summer Camp at home week using the following ideas
-You don’t need to send them to expensive camps every week or spend money on outings. You can have a lot of fun at home or by utilizing local parks (many have splash grounds – will put details on the blog)
-Summer is about PLAY. Find ways to have fun with your kids while you can – they grow up fast.
