Archive for March, 2011

These are some of the hyacinth and daffodils that bloomed in my back yard this March…I think, though sparse, they are beautiful! I have to say of all the seasons, I look forward to spring the most! I love the flowers that bloom, the new buds that appear on trees overnight… the feeling that live is starting fresh. Unfortunately what comes with that new begining is the old feeling of an itchy nose, watery eyes and a headache that seems to last for days.
I have heard may people say they haven’t had allergies as bad anywhere else in the country as they have had them here. After living in Atlanta for the last 3 years, I would have to agree with them. On the bright side… it’s nothing a little rest and a lot of allergy medication can’t solve. So while it lasts… enjoy the spring!

Talk about amazing…. 10 year old Ethan Bortnick certainly is. He began playing a keyboard at the age of three, was composing music by the age of five and can play over 200 songs from memory.
I recently sat down with Ethan while he was in town for a promotional tour for The Children’s Miracle Network.
Ethan is so talented… he composed a piece right on the spot from a blackberry ringtone. He even made me a decent duet partner despite the fact that I have zero skills on the piano.
Ethan even talked about what it was like working with the music world’s A-listers like Barbra Streisand, Celine Dion, Miley Cyrus and Kanye West as the youngest member of the “We Are the World 25 for Haiti” all-star lineup.
Ethan has performed in front of crowds of more than 20,000 people, sharing the stage with such legendary artists as Elton John, Natalie Cole, Smokey Robinson and Beyonce. His exceptional piano skills and wise beyond his years personality have been showcased on television shows including four appearances on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno and the Oprah Winfrey Show.
